The consumer price index slowed to 6.2 percent in August. Food prices rose 13.4 percent in August. Non-food prices rose 2.8% YoY last month, down from 2.9% in July and 3% in June.
On a month-on-month basis, the CPI increased 0.3% from July, from 0.5% in July. Non-food inflation, however, ticked up a bit last month, rising 0.2% MoM compared to
0.1% in July
The country’s Producer Price Index rose 7.3 percent year-on-year in August, lower than July’s 7.5% gain.
