NOVEMBER SAME-STORE-SALES VERY WEAK

Comps are getting easier to beat but the reality remains very challenging. November SSS are generally quite weak considering what they were up against. TJX is a standout, however, continuing its momentum since last spring.

Saks, Abercrombie & Fitch, Dillard, JC Penny and Macy’s have serious sales problems. ANF is particularly noteworthy: in two years, its November sales cratered by nearly 50%!!!!! By comparison, Aeropostale’s SSS are up 1.6% while Gap’s and The Limited’s SSS are down 10% during the same period.
